O.S.P Varuna Spec 2 110 SF
VARUNA was released in early spring of 2015, 14 years after the birth of the 9cm Asura and 10 years since the 13cm RUDRA. Having used the previous two jerk baits for many years, we have fully equipped them with all the necessary elements and structure for fishing. The body is a slim type, which is the advantage of minnows, and has a full flat body shape that produces flashing, which is an essential element, and a honeycomb super HP body (PAT) that has a low center of gravity with multiple small diameter moving weights and is both lightweight and strong. ). It has become the strongest 11cm minnow with improved performance in all aspects, including quick start-up, high-response free winding, light and sharp twitch, and sharp dart action. And this time, the SPEC2-SF uses two moving weights instead of three in the SP model, placing them in a position that allows both jumping and swimming, and fixing them with an ultra-thin middle plate. Although it is not as good as the original moving center of gravity type, as a minnow with a fixed center of gravity of 11cm, the variation in flight distance has been suppressed as much as possible. Even with a quiet accuracy cast, it maintains a swimming posture from the time it lands on the water, and its slow floating makes it excellent in evasion ability and ideal for attacking around structure. Even with twitches and hard jerks, the posture is not too disturbed. SPEC2 sacrifices flight distance by abandoning the shift of the center of gravity, but its silent design demonstrates its power in clear water and tough conditions.

Like Rudra SPEC2, Varuna SPEC2 has a fixed center of gravity and is silent and slow floating. This means that it is easier to get a nervous bass to use its mouth. It can be used tightly around cover without fear of getting caught, so it can be said that it is a lure that is more suitable for Japanese fields. It is an item that is sure to be useful in rental boat fields where pressure is easily applied, in small places, and even in cover lakes. As mentioned earlier, because of its fixed center of gravity, it silently and instantly starts swimming from the point it lands on the water. Compared to the suspended model, the flight distance is slightly lower when fully cast, so the diving depth is shallower, but it shows the same diving depth at the same distance. Twitching makes it easier to pass through shallower areas, but this is largely due to the slightly horizontal position of the SPEC2, whereas the suspended model has a bowed position. The highlight is the weight. The fully flat body can increase volume, and while it has a slender, realistic minnow shape and slow floating, it has a weight of 15.7g. This not only provides excellent castability despite having a fixed center of gravity, but also allows the flat side flashing to turn on the bass. This ability is inherited from Asura and Rudra.

A silent type jerkbait with a fixed center of gravity based on the normal type VARUNA. Cast accuracy and slow floating settings, which do not rely on shifting the center of gravity and do not cause any stress, reduce snags and provide response with the slightest rod operation. Due to the fixed center of gravity, the lure’s posture after landing on the water is ready for battle, so you can attract the lure with its original action from the first action. In particular, in the reservoirs that I mainly use, the productive zone for bass is often near the wall after landing on the water, so you can use it easily when you want to slowly explore around the intricate cover that you would hesitate to use with a normal jerkbait. Since you can attack without any hesitation, you can deal with bass in tougher conditions. The lure rolls well and appeals while minimizing the travel distance, so it is definitely a lure not only for the high season, but also for the main lure during the mid-winter season, when it is most difficult to catch bass! This winter, the main field I go to has higher water levels than usual and there are many shallow covers, making it difficult to attack with jerkbaits, but I was able to catch good-sized bass as soon as the prototype model arrived.
